"Picking your own flowers at a local garden isn’t just about the joy of gathering nature's beauty — it’s about supporting local growers and taking home a piece of the community’s heart, one bloom at a time."

Our story

Fern’s Flowers Garden started in 2022 with a simple love for flowers and the peacefulness of nature. It began as a way to support Lady Flower Gardens (LFG), a not-for-profit community garden founded by my father-in-law, Doug Visser and his partner Kelly Mills. LFG provides experiential learning opportunities for vulnerable populations and is located on a large piece of property within the Edmonton city limits. Maintaining this land can be costly, and my husband, Kevin, and I wanted to find a way to help support it while also sharing the land with more people.

What started as a project to support an essential community garden has blossomed into something much more—a peaceful, welcoming space for families, friends, and flower lovers to slow down, explore, and pick their own beautiful bouquets. Every flower we grow is planted with care, with the hope that it brings a little more color and joy into the world. Our garden is located in Northeast Edmonton, in the Horse Hill area, right along the North Saskatchewan River. It’s a hidden piece of land that dips down toward the riverbank—a quick getaway from city life and an opportunity to become enveloped in nature.

Grown with care

Our garden sits on land shared with Lady Flower Gardens, surrounded by a old-growth forest and trails. While we are just a short drive from the city, it feels a world away. We believe in growing sustainably, respecting the land, and creating a space where people can reconnect with nature and each other. Whether you’re here to pick a beautiful bouquet of flowers or simply to enjoy a quiet walk among the blooms, we’re so glad you found us.

Thank you for being part of our story. We’re so grateful to share this journey with you.
